"It used to be intimidating for me to walk into a sports equipment store. The salespeople would be confusing, and
I was never satisfied with what I bought. But now I have the information I need to make an informed decision about
the right equipment for me." Barbara M., NJ

Five Stages of Change:
Stage 4, Action
The key to moving forward from ''Acting On It'' to ''Taking Action'' is feeling confident and sell prepared to involve
yourself fully with the Action of Exercising and the commitment that comes with it. Make sure and participate in a
Par Q test to determine your health readiness for entering into an exercise program and always consult your
physician before beginning.
So now let's assume that you are fully committed to an exercise program, working several days a week and maintaining
focus on your goals. Do not take this newfound success for granted, and remember that to ensure continued success
you must remain engaged working on knowledge-building while paying attention to areas that are important to your success.
|
|
Some of the areas of focus could be as follows:
- Self Monitoring/Journaling Your Training; Support Groups / Identifying Your Allies in Helping You
Succeed Skill Mastery / Acquisition
- Motivation / Goal-Setting Skills
Finally, as with any program, the final stage is Maintenance.
