Five Stages of Change:
Stage 5, Maintenance

This involves incorporating the new behavior of exercising over the long haul. Research on Motivation and Exercise Adherence has provided excellent information that can help with overcoming barriers and obstacles. Some typical reasons for people falling out of their routine and moving away from their intended goals could be Injury, Family Crisis, Burn-Out, and Boredom. Other setbacks we face are really just a sign that ''Life Does Get in the Way Sometimes''.

It is important not to be too critical of yourself and instead try and minimize the downtime by encouraging yourself to take scheduled breaks and re-evaluate your current goals and adjust accordingly. Always try and keep the routine fresh and new, challenging yourself to new and exciting routines, skills, etc. With enough hard work and perseverance you could very well be spending the rest of your life enjoying the benefits of exercise!
